March 21 Daily Rhythm

Morning
Psalm 91:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

God, you alone are my refuge. Today, train my selfish and wandering heart to believe this that i might find rest from trying to find refuge. Let the cross be enough for me.

Afternoon
Psalm 91:3-4

For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

There is nothing that can threaten those who trust in our God’s shelter. Each generation has its own threats. Here they are Traps and disease. The most recent was Nuclear attack, the next will likely be Technology. None can harm those who rest in the shadow of our God’s wings.

Evening
Psalm 91:5-8

You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

You will not fear the terror of the night. There is terror in the night isn’t there? What if’s jar us awake in a 3AM panic. Sounds that went bump and shadows on the walls of children seep into the sleeping minds of parents and take a more sinister form. Whether we live or die tonight in our sleep – Jesus is king and none can stand against him.
