March 13 Daily Rhythm

Morning
Psalm 89:12-14

The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, high your right hand. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.

Oh God, this morning as we go about our day help us to focus on you. Let us think on the good things you give us, on your love, and the people in our lives. Let your love consume us more that our drive for accomplishment and recognition.

Afternoon
Psalm 89:15-18

Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face, who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted. For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted. For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

God, this day we seek to walk in the light of your face! Let us be blessed not as a reward, but as a result.

Evening
Psalm 89:19-21

Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: “I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.

Lord Jesus, we can’t help of think of you being anointed with oil by a woman who didn’t appear worthy of your touch. We aren’t either, and yet you smile on us with your love and grace. Help us to rest this evening in the knowledge that you Jesus are the mighty one.
