Jan 21 Daily Rhythm

Morning
Psalm 78:67-68

He rejected the tent of Joseph; he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim, but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.

God, you choose to love. And when you choose you do not forget. Help us to remember that in Christ you have set your heart and your love upon us. We are secure, not because of how lovable we are, but because of your steadfast love alone.

Afternoon
Psalm 78:69

He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.

Majestic and powerful abba father, you have established yourself as the author of the universe and the holder of salvation. You hold our hearts in your hand and you number our days. Help us to focus our lives today on your worship, your glory and your power.

Evening
Psalm 78:70-72

He chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance. With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.

God, one of your greatest gifts to your people is a good king. David had his struggles but in Christ we finally have a good king. We need to be ruled well, and Jesus does this. Help us to bend our knees and our hearts to his rule in our lives.
