Advent Day 4

Yesterday we talked about the tendency of humanity to provide and care for themselves.  We think we need to find our own security and comfort.  The people in genesis 11 waned to make a name for themselves.
In Genesis 12 God says to Abram, “Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.  And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
In whose power and promise do we look for comfort and security?
Some of us have looked to a great many places this year for comfort and security.  And God knows that makes sense because it has been a hard year for all of us.
But how has that been going for you?
Prayer
Father, I have trusted in presidents, elections, and news companies.  I have hoped in vaccines and answers.  Help me to turn from looking for security in these places and remember that my ultimate hope is in the advent of my king.  I have been wrong, help me to be comforted.
Today’s ADVENTure says
Reflect on God’s grace to you. How can you show that grace to another?
