Advent Day 3

Gen 11:4
they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”
Humanity’s earliest effort at self sufficiency was a tower.  A way to make a name for themselves.  Just like us, these early people did not want to rely on the promise of God to bring healing and restoration.  They wanted to rely on themselves.
I am reminded of the song that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends, some people started singing it no knowing what it was, and they’ll go on singing it forever because this is the song that never ends….
This reminds me of our efforts to make a name for ourselves.
What are the ways you are hoping to establish yourself or your people this year?
For some of us it is with a certain version of truth, for others it is a certain form of government.  For many it may be to protect wealth and security in uncertain times.
Prayer
God, I often try to make a name for myself.  I seek to provide security to my family and loved ones that truly only you can offer.  I live in an uncertain world.  Forgive me and heal me from trying to protect myself uncertainty anywhere other than in your grace.
Today’s ADVENTure says

Call a neighbor and wish them a happy Thursday!
