Discussion from Judges 17-18

In these chapters we meet Micah, a Levite and a group of people form the tribe of Dan.  Micah wants to create his own religion so that he can “prosper.” The Levite is all to happy to help, but the Danites also want to prosper, and are stronger than Micah.

Discussion

1) why is self made religion so tempting?  In what ways do we do the same thing as Micah in this chapter?

2) In what ways are the men of Dan weak?

3) What is the danger of creating our own god?
